The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers federal aid to residents of the City of Lubbock through it’s housing agency known as The Housing Authority of the City of Lubbock. In this capacity, LHA is the owner and manager of approximately 367 housing units scattered throughout Lubbock.
The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program allows low income citizens to find their own places to rent in Lubbock. Voucher holders are free to choose any house that meets minimum health and safety standards.
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a voluntary program designed to assist families in becoming economically independent and self-sufficient. With the support of local agencies, FSS combines case management, education, job training, and ongoing support through newsletters, workshops, support group meetings, and other appropriate services to aid the family in becoming self-sufficient.
